Spring CITO Season in Northern Virginia

Earth Day is almost upon us and one of the great ways geocachers can give back to the community is by hosting CITO events.  NoVAGO is proud to host an event created for folks to come and learn how to plan and execute a successful CITO.  Geocachers of all levels are invited to attend and learn about the resources that are available to help you make great CITO events. Best Log Preliminary Voting Open

The call for nominations is now closed. We collected over 400 nominations this year–superb! Thanks to all who took the time to submit their favorite caches. For the category of Best Log, we received too many submissions to put on the final ballot, so there will be a preliminary run-off vote to narrow down the candidates. We will collect these preliminary votes for a couple of weeks, so plenty of time to read through the logs and pick out up to 5 of your favorites. Here is a list of the 20 logs nominated so that members can easily read them.  You can the place your 5 votes with this FORM. Voting ends on February 28th. 2016 NoVAGO Geocache Award Nominations Open

By: Serrabou Each year NoVAGO honors some of the best caches that were placed in Northern Virginia. Cache nominations and awards are a chance for you to recognize the efforts of fellow NoVAGO cachers who have placed hides that you have enjoyed. Please consider sending in nominations, we need your input ! From now and until the middle of February, we will be taking nominations for the categories below (see following post in this thread for a description of categories). After the nomination period ends, the list of nominated caches and cachers will be consolidated into a ballot. Once the ballot is announced, there will be several weeks for you to get out there and hunt the nominated caches before voting. Finally, the ballot will be voted on by all NoVAGO members. Big turn out for the Annual Thanks Event!

We had over 40 geocachers and family join us on a rainy Saturday afternoon for the Annual Thanks event.  Appreciation was given for all of the local cachers who worked hard to make 2016 more fun in Northern Virginia, a beautiful cake with DePhogration artwork was served, and the the new NoVAGO Pathtags and Geocoins were met with great enthusiasm.
