NoVAGO Celebrates CITO Week with Multiple Fall Events

On Saturday, October 1st 2017 join the NoVAGO for our Fall CITO at Burke Lake Park. This is a popular place for hiking and families with some of the best trails around including a scenic 4.78-mile fitness/biking/hiking trail which loops around the 218-acre lake. It is also home to one of Virginia’s oldest active geocaches! This is an excellent opportunity to give back to Mother Earth by picking up trash and helping with trail maintenance at this great Virginia park all while earning the exclusive CITO 2017 souvenir. The normal $10 per day Park fee for noncounty residents will be waived by the Park for all CITO participants. Fall Auction List

NoVAGO’s 3rd Annual Hauntingly Familiar Fall Event October 28th is is quickly approaching and with that comes our annual Fall Event and Auction.  This auction is what sets up NoVAGO’s operating budget for the following year.  Please remember that donations benefit NoVAGO directly. This is NoVAGO’s primary fund raiser, and it allows us to pay for CITO materials, event pavilion rentals, and furnish the burgers, dogs, and sausages for each of our seasonal events, and covers our web hosting fees. Introducing NoVAGO Spotlight Questions

On August 21, 2017 the first NoVAGO Spotlight Question was been published in the forums. Last month NoVAGO sent out an email of 5 questions to about 50 of its members old and new on 5 different topics of geocaching.  In the email it said “I am asking 5 questions and just answer with a paragraph, a few sentences, or not at all.  You can be funny (but honest), serious, scary, or whatever.  Then I will pick one question and share everyone’s answers to it in the forums.”  These “rapid quick fire questions” ranged from scary stories, to recent fantastic caches found, and police encounters while out geocaching. Scotts Run CITO a Success!

NoVAGO would like to thank both it’s members and the MGS for making the clean up at Scott’s Run a huge Success.  Over 23 geocachers and family woke up early Saturday and volunteered to pick up trash.  Many of the usual litter suspects where there for the pickings like beer bottles, bagged dog poo, cigarettes, a shoe, and a I saw one tire made it in the pile.   … Continue reading

July 8th is shaping up to be a busy day! Since they are both very close together it makes perfect sense to attend both the NoVAGO Summer CITO and the MGS for their 2017 Summer Picnic.  Both groups are looking forward to meeting up and mingling with each other.
