Update (February 19, 2019): View your nominated caches and cachers here 😎 👏 NoVAGO’s 2018 Geocache Awards 👾 🥰 Each year NoVAGO honors some of the best caches that were placed in Northern Virginia. Cache nominations and awards are a chance for you to recognize the efforts of fellow NoVAGO cachers who have placed hides that you have enjoyed. Please consider sending in nominations, we need your input 🙏 This year, we’re starting early. From now until February 15, 2019 we will be taking nominations for the categories below (see this post for a description of categories). After the nomination period ends, the list of nominated caches and cachers will be consolidated into a ballot and be voted on by all NoVAGO members. Join Us at Our NoVAGO Annual Spring Picnic and 2017 NoVAGO Geocache Awards Event

On May 6, 2018 NoVAGO invites to you lend a hand, picnic with friends, and celebrate the 2017 NoVAGO Cache Awards in Arlington! At 9 a.m. we will kick off the day with a CITO at Glencarlyn Park where we will be cleaning up portion of trails along Four Mile Run in Arlington.  Located just over a mile from our picnic shelter this CITO is a nice walk or a quick bike ride up a paved path from our picnic location. Northern Virginia Has 17 Events Dropped On the Area for the 2018 Planetary Pursuit Promotion

Northern Virginia has gone “event crazy” for the upcoming Groundspeak promotion “Planetary Pursuit.” Geocaching’s Official Blog describes this promotion as “The year is 2650. You are invited to join the Geocaching Explorers Club and be among the first geocachers to visit every planet in our solar system, earning souvenirs along the way. Find different geocache types to individually collect points on the Friend League between March 19 and April 8 and earn up to 10 new souvenirs to become an Official Space Explorer.” Attention space explorers! To give geocachers more time to complete their missions, Planetary Pursuit has been extended for an additional week. Please log all your finds before Monday, April 16! Local Geocachers Attend Class About Cachetur.no

March 10, 2018 – Over 24 geocachers descended upon the Thomas Jefferson Library to attend a class titled Let’s take a cachetur.  Cachetur.no is the hottest new geocaching application around that lets you plan private trips, group trips and public trips that are open for all.  Current NoVAGO President Platoaddict was the mastermind behind this class came prepared with slides and some cool cachetur.co swag for the attendees.  While developing this class the developers of cachetur.no reached out to NoVAGO and offered to help in anyway they could.  Attendees seemed very pleased with the information from the class. “I’m sure I would not have tackled this resource without your instruction.” said LMNLanchot “Now it’s time to play around and see if I can work it alone.” Zgrav had this to say about the class “Thanks to the CO for a solid presentation with a lot of hands-on assistance and very useful … Continue reading
