SURVIVOR18: Who will be the Sole Survivor?

Join us at the fire pit at Freddiecrs’ as the members of the Chickahominy tribe vote for the SURVIVOR18 winner. Our three remaining Survivors are: minnestrone     QUE3NBE3     SP4FUN It is NOT required that you bring anything but yourselves to this event, but if the spirit of Survivor moves you, feel free to bring a dish and drinks to share. A lawn chair wouldn’t be a bad idea either if you want to park your backside by the fire pit. 2016 NoVAGO Geocache Award Nominations Open

By: Serrabou Each year NoVAGO honors some of the best caches that were placed in Northern Virginia. Cache nominations and awards are a chance for you to recognize the efforts of fellow NoVAGO cachers who have placed hides that you have enjoyed. Please consider sending in nominations, we need your input ! From now and until the middle of February, we will be taking nominations for the categories below (see following post in this thread for a description of categories). After the nomination period ends, the list of nominated caches and cachers will be consolidated into a ballot. Once the ballot is announced, there will be several weeks for you to get out there and hunt the nominated caches before voting. Finally, the ballot will be voted on by all NoVAGO members. 2017 NoVAGO Events

One of the hallmarks of NoVAGO is its events. For a number of years NoVAGO has held 4 quarterly picnics. Last year the addition of 4 seasonal CITOs was made to the NoVAGO calendar. At the first board meeting of the year a decision was made to revamp the event lineup for 2017. This year NoVAGO will hold two major events (Spring and Fall) and four CITOs. The reasons for this decision bear explanation. When NoVAGO began having quarterly events, geocaching had not yet matured through the use of smart phones and other common devices. NoVAGO was composed of a smaller core group of cachers. Social media which currently links our membership, such as FaceBook, was neither common or readily accessible. Celebrate the Parks

It seems like many organizations that help make geocaching great are celebrating big years right now. The Virginia State Parks are celebrating 80 years. You can help them celebrate in general by visiting 5 state parks and earn a free pass for next year (to support your geocaching habit of course) They’re also sponsoring a Geocaching Adventure where you can find official geocaches in 5, 10, 20 or all of the states parks and earn prizes.
