Important! The awards categories have changed. For the nominations and awards being given out in 2024 (for the 2023 caching year) please read the most current post. Each year NoVAGO honors some of the best caches that were placed in Northern Virginia. Nominations are an opportunity for you to recognize the efforts of your fellow NoVAGO cachers who have placed hides that you have enjoyed. This list is meant to help you think of some of the best geocaches you found last year. Best Traditional – The familiar green box on the map, which one made an impression on you? Thanks very much to those of you who took the time to send in nominations! We had a lot of nominations this year and have been working hard to compile a list of the most popular for our members to vote on. While not all nominations were able to make the final cut, we were impressed with every suggestion that was sent in to us, making the decisions even harder.

Voting is scheduled to be open for ALL categories April 1-22, 2022.  Winners will be announced at our NoVAGO 2022 Spring Picnic and Awards Event on [Date TBD].

And the 2020 Cache Awards Winners are…

After having to skip our annual event last year due to COVID-19, on May 8, 2021 NoVAGO members flocked to Saturday’s NoVAGO’s 2021 Spring Picnic and Awards Event in Purceville, VA. Held in the Hillsboro Pavilion. The winds were whipping, so throughout the day it was common to see bug gust blow away Icebreaker sheets, plates, donuts, and hamburger buns.  Folks opted to stand in the sun for warmth, but than rushed back under the pavilion to shelter from the snow flurries and rain that popped up near the end. Many thanks to the dedicated geocachers who participated setting up our annual picnic festivities, and those who stayed to clean up afterwards.  We had over 30 names signed on today’s picnic log, but folks remembered to social distance and not crowd in.  Also a special shout out to grill master DePhogration who again kept the flames hot, and kept the … Continue reading →

Since our Annual Spring Picnic and Cache Awards Presentation had to be cancelled due to Virginia COVID-19 restrictions, NoVAGO wanted to do something special to announce the award winners online. NoVAGO’s 2019 Geocache Awards Listed below are the caches and cachers nominated by their peers for awards for 2019. Thanks very much to those of you who took the time to send in nominations! All curious and avid NoVAGO cachers (that’s you!) are encouraged to visit as many of the nominated caches as possible before voting.  Here is a bookmark list of the nominated caches. Go get ’em! Voting will begin immediately and continue until April 22.  Voting is open to all NoVAGO members. Ballot is hosted on a Google Form. Cache nominations and awards are a chance for you to recognize the efforts of fellow NoVAGO cachers who have placed hides that you have enjoyed. Please consider sending in nominations, we need your input 🙏 This year, we’re starting early. From now until (date to be announced) we will be taking nominations for the categories below (see this post for a description of categories). After the nomination period ends, the list of nominated caches and cachers will be consolidated into a ballot and be voted on by all NoVAGO members.
