In July, the Appalachian Trail Conservancy will host the 2015 ATC Biennial Meeting, and NoVAGO has been asked to assist. We’ve been tasked with presenting a Geocaching workshop and later leading a Geocaching excursion. We’re looking for your help!
Appalachian Trail Conservancy 2015 Biennial Meeting
Shenandoah University, Winchester, VA
Sunday, July 19, 2015
NoVAGO’s presentation begins at 8:00 am
On Sunday morning, July 19th, NoVAGO will present Geocaching Down (and Around) the Appalachian Trail, a workshop designed to introduce participants to the basics of Geocaching. Later in the afternoon, we’ll travel to the Third Winchester Battlefield for a Geocaching Excursion. As we hike around the Battlefield, we’ll give participants hands-on Geocaching experience with permanent and temporary caches along the way.
This is a great opportunity to help educate the public and demonstrate the fun of Geocaching. There are several ways you can help:
- Want to place some Geocaches?
We can use your help to place some temporary caches prior to the event. Third Winchester Battlefield has two permanent caches, but NoVAGO will plan to place several temporary caches to give participants more to find. - Good at teaching others about caching?
During our 90-minute introductory workshop, we can use assistants wiling to help answer questions and provide insight. This workshop will take place at Shenandoah University, starting at 8:00 am. - Enjoy seeking geocaches?
We also need members willing to join us at the Third Winchester Battlefield at 1:00 pm to help guide excursion participants. We’d like to have enough assistance to allow small groups of excursion participants to join up with experienced cachers who will help show them the fun of Geocaching.
If you have the time and interest in joining the fun, we encourage you to contact the officers, post to our forum thread, or log your Will Attend on the Appalachian Trail Conference Training Event.
