It’s NoVAGO’s 20th Anniversary! To celebrate, this year’s series — “20 Years of Gifts” — will be a showering of presents from the region’s most esteemed hiders, commemorating our organization’s past, present and future. 

Team sedor18 is putting together this special geocaching run from September 2026 through January 2027. Reach out if you are interested in placing or hosting an event!

How do we celebrate anniversaries? With gifts, of course. Caches will be placed representing the yearly anniversary gift — drawn from the Traditional, Modern, Flower, or Gem gift lists.

In addition, there will be three events where we will celebrate our 20 years.

The first will be a kickoff honoring the original hiders, cachers, and hides. Celebrate 20 Years of NoVAGO (GCBVR3M) held 9/13/26

The second will be a NoVAGO-region geocaching trivia contest with cache-related prizes. [TBA]

The third will be a thank-you to all hiders and finders. [TBA]

Can you believe that NoVAGO is turning 20?

And what better way to celebrate a milestone anniversary than with a big fat — fall caching series!

Yes, indeed, the theme of the 2026 Fall Caching Series is the 20th Anniversary of the Northern Virginia Geocaching Organization (NoVAGO) and the first set of new caches are set to launch the week of September 13th! That’s right around the corner!

You’ll know a hide is part of the series if NOVAGO20 is part of the cache name and it has this fancy logo on its page (thanks, Chris Gaida!) Each hider will feature a yearly anniversary gift to base their hide around — drawn from Traditional, Modern, Flower, or Gem lists. Don’t forget to grab the code word from each NOVAGO20 cache you find (details coming soon).

There will be traditionals, earth caches, letterboxes, mysteries, D/Ts to please everyone (we hope!). Heck, we’re even hosting some events (GCBVR3M) and the series will run all the way into early 2027, which is technically the actual anniversary of the club.
