Summer in the Blue Ridge

Looking for a fun way to spend this weekend? Join us for a summer weekend in the mountains! NoVAGO is returning to the beautiful Blue Ridge Environmental Center. Trails, lakes, mountains, food, friends, and goats. What else does your summer need?

The weekend kicks off with our annual Picnic: GC5Y257. Come, meet caching friends old and new, and enjoy a delicious potluck lunch. There are almost 30 caches hidden within BREC’s nearly 900 acres, so after lunch you can enjoy time relaxing in Demory Field with friends or go caching while exploring the hiking trails though the woods, babbling streams, wildflower meadows and historic farmsteads.

We will have our pavilion the entire afternoon as the fun doesn’t end at the conclusion of the picnic. BREC has been gracious enough to grant us exclusive use of their facilities through Sunday evening!

Therefore, do stick around and join us for camping and night caching: GC5Z365. Set up a tent and enjoy the unique opportunity of doing a bit of after-dark caching at BREC. As we wait for dark, we’ll have a campfire going, perhaps some s’mores, and we will share stories and tips for caching by flashlight.

Come Sunday, we’ll help give back by hosting a CITO: GC5YN2F. Blue Ridge Center has asked for assistance with some trail maintenance, weeding, and trash pick-up, so we’ll likely divide into several crews and say thank you by lending a hand.

Whether from Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia or beyond, we hope you’ll make plans to come out and join us! It should be a terrific weekend!
