Lost ammo can turns up!

So yeah, I got a call today from a guy saying he had stumbled upon my geocache ammo can. I naturally assumed he was talking about Gones Bananas (GC2FEEX) in the Occoquan Regional Park, as it's the only ammo can I currently have out in action. But no, he told me he had found the cache further south on the Potomac River buried in the sand at the Fairview Beach Yacht Club. After thinking about it a second, I realized that he had found my original container for Blue Trail Treasure (GC2FECJ), also located in Occoquan, that had washed away back during the heavy flooding of September/October of 2011. I looked up the club and saw that the cache must had traveled down the stream and then river roughly 28 miles to get to the beach. According to him, everything was in tact though and the inside of the ammo can was bone dry. The fellow told me he was going to throw the ammo can back in the water, but I told him that's not how the game is played although I could understand the confusion. He gave me the coordinates and I told him just to hide the ammo can in a nearby tree or something. Now, of course, I just need to go grab it. Lil bit of a trip. Hopefully it will still be there. Anyways, just thought I'd share this. I was pretty excited to get the news. lol

Always cool to hear when something like that happens. I know both NetworkCacher and Serrabou have found caches that floated downstream, and I've found one that took the same sort of trip -- BUT none of those were 28 miles . Nice the way things turned out. Thanks for sharing the story.
